My journey to midwifery began with the birth of my son. I developed pre-eclampsia and he was born via c-section at 34 weeks. I was left confused, exhausted and what felt like alone in my struggle to connect and wrap my head around all that had happened. That was 2003. My quest for answers and education began and I was ferocious in my research. I knew that if I were to ever go through pregnancy and birth again it had to be different.

In 2008 I had a successful VBAC with my daughter, she was born in a hospital under the warm and expert care of midwives. I was living in England at the time, my husband is British, and all pregnancies and births were overseen by midwives unless otherwise indicated. I was hooked, I knew in that moment that I HAD to do this with my life, I had to be the person who walked another women through the fire and out the other side of the most amazing journey of her life.

In 2010 I had an amazing home-birth here in Southern California with my youngest, and his birth only solidified what I knew my soul was calling me to become, a midwife.

I completed three years of holistic midwifery training at Nizhoni Institute of Midwifery in San Diego, CA. I am a Licensed Midwife through the Medical Board of California and a Certified Professional Midwife through the North American Registry of Midwives. Along the way I gained my certification in BLS (basic life support) and neonatal resuscitation, which is always kept current. I have been to over 200 births and I marvel at how each and every single one is unique and amazing. I hope to never stop learning.

I am so grateful to be able to spend the rest of my life doing something that I am so passionate about that it almost seems ridiculous to call it a job. I am on this journey with you, and for that I cannot say thank you enough.

This is more than a job…. this is who we are.

We are committed to changing birth, one mother and one baby at a time. Read More…
